But we all came back, some of us taller than ever! Here is a photo essay from Friday September 7th on Flat Street.

Since it was Gallery Night where were all the people? I walked all the way down Main Street and noticed Flat Street was blocked off...

On the way there I was assured that this t-shirt was an original ‘Mocha Jobama’ and a collector’s item only worn on special occasions.

On the way there I was assured that this t-shirt was an original ‘Mocha Jobama’ and a collector’s item only worn on special occasions.

Turning the corner there were lots of people there but the first task was to navigate past the Flat Street Giants which I and several young children all did at once.

Slight hesitations about receiving goodies from the giants.

80 degrees is pretty warm for flipping burgers and dogs, but these two Local Heros did so with food provided free by the Boys and Girls Club — there was a long line, and my guess is that in 30 minutes while I was on Flat Street they served 250 to 300 people.

More Giants! This time a Giant Camera which you could get in! Plus a mask, but just ahead there were hundreds of people watching...

Acrobats! I suspect this one is from Circus Arts which is based just down the street. Below I have put together 3 photos to make a panorama.

Then a voice called, “Hey Phil, Look At Me!” And sure enough, it was Chris, who always seems to be smiling.

Top: big hair. Then I was rushed by Doug moving faster than 1/100th of a second, according to my camera.

I bet I could do that! But not sing too. And as for being a trapeze artist, the framework looked very high when you were up-close.

I got up my nerve to ask the tall people a question: “Are you members of the select board?” I shouted up hill. “No,” they said, “they are over there.”

In fact, Dick De Gray, left, Chair of the Selectboard was speaking with Senator Vince Illuzzi about what had been achieved in the town since Irene, but also of some difficult challenges ahead.

The senator was also in conversation with another selectboard member Ken Schneck.

Back at the barbecue a serious situation had arisen, the last burgers were going on the flame, then it was going to be down to dogs.

Suddenly one of those flash-mobs showed up and danced down the street led by a mysterious grey-haired woman!

Walking home I took a few more photos on Main Street. It was getting dark for the camera, and all the lights were on.
